Wisdom is seeking heavenly opinions of earthly circumstances. It is seeing things from God's perspective. (Proverbs 9:10,11)

  • All Godly wisdom begins with reverence (revere= "to stand in awe of")
  • Unfortunately, we live in a world that does not value true wisdom.
  • Most people choose to go with the flow of society.

There are many reasons people choose to act foolishly:

  • First, it is usually out of plain ignorance or listening to bad counsel
  • Or seeking self gratification
  • Or in response to peer pressure and societal pressure

The ultimate fool's game: "I can live my way & win"

  • Arrogance and self reliance is the opposite of wisdom. (Ex. Atheism)

Ephesians 5:15-17: Wisdom is something we can choose to live out.

  • THE GOOD NEWS: Every person can become wise

Here are six essentials for walking in wisdom

  • 1) Have a strong determination to walk wisely (Proverbs 2:1-7)
  • It requires a decision. You must settle it in your mind. (God's way is the right way)

  • 2) You need to pray for wisdom (James 1:5-8)
  • 'You have not because you ask not' (James 4:2)

  • 3) Meditate on God's Word (Psalms 119:97-105)
  • 4) Actively Obey and Apply God's Word (James 1:22)
  • It's not enough to just read the Bible. We must apply what we learn. We must receive the word and let it produce fruit in our lives.

  • 5) Be sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit
  • 6) Associate with and learn from wise people (Ps. 1:1; Prov. 13:20)

Conclusion: At this present hour, our world is growing ever darker. We must do all we can to root ourselves in the Word and in the things of God. The time to do this is now.
