Last week was stunning.

  • Over one million Taiwanese took to the streets to protest Chinese policy as China continues to flaunt its military prowess.
  • A major 8.7 quake rocked Indonesia (the 1st Indonesian earthquake occurred Dec. 26, the day after Christmas. Last Monday's quake hit the same area on March 28, the day after Easter.).
  • The public starvation of Terry Schiavo.
  • The death of an icon, Pope John Paul II.

All of this in one week ladies and gentlemen...

As I was compiling this commentary, it was brought to my attention that this weekend in the U.S. the #1 movie at the box office is 'Sin City.' Last week I saw a two-page spread advertisement for this movie in the NY Times. Readers, America's decadence is beginning to stink. As we claim to fight evil abroad, we do not even recognize in our own midst.

Matt Drudge, of the Drudge Report, puts it this way on his popular site:

"#1 MOVIE IN USA WEEKEND POPE DIES 'SIN CITY' FEATURES A CARDINAL AS CANNIBAL, IN LEAGUE WITH A SERIAL KILLER WHO READS THE BIBLE, A CROSS IN JUST ABOUT EVERY SCENE..."

Yes, you read that right... Welcome to the degenerate society we like to call the United States of America. American culture can no longer deny its rabid promotion of a culture of death. Unfortunately, many 'Christians' will hand over their hard earned dollars to watch this garbage. The lukewarmness of this 'Christian' nation towards its roots in Christianity will be harshly judged. Oh, that this nation would return to its 'first love.' (Rev. 3:4-5) Join me in praying for this nation and for the soon return of our Lord Jesus Christ!

My efforts to keep up with the astounding pace of world events continues to feel futile, yet I will attempt to continue to cover it to the best of the ability that God has given to me.
