"Cease-fire!"
"Unnecessary force!"
"Ruthless revenge!"
"Restraint!"
These are some of the recent cries spewing forth from the mouths of global leaders and their pawns, the media outlets. The global drumbeat for Israel to stop defending herself from the unprovoked onslaught of Islamic radicals has reached a fever pitch. The United Nations is adopting a "Cease-fire" plan. France and the U.S. have worked out all of the details. Interesting...
According to every definition of the "War on Terror," Israel is in one. A real-time 'war on terror,' within their own country. Israeli citizens are being attacked on their own soil by TERRORISTS. Israel is not being attacked by Lebanon. The democratic state of Israel is being attacked by Hezbollah: "the Lebanese Shiite terrorist organization, which operates both in the local and the global arena under the guidance of Iran and with the backing of Syria." Hezbollah desires the 'liberation of Jerusalem' and the 'annihilation of Israel.' The regime's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was recently quoted in The Age as saying "There is no solution to the conflict in this region except with the disappearance of Israel."
Would you classify Hezbollah as a terrorist regime? The U.S., Canada, and Israel have. Is the current struggle that Israel is embroiled in a major part of the 'War on Terror?' If so, why the calls for cease-fire? Where is the military support from the Western countries that initiated this global 'war on terror?' Part of the problem lies in the fact that Hezbollah has not been fully classified by most nations as a terrorist regime. Amazing, but true.
Perhaps if the Islamic bombs were falling on Paris or Barcelona the tone would be different. If ruthless Islamic terrorists and their guerilla tactics were targeting Madrid or Berlin would the cries still be for "cease-fire?" Or how about if London or Houston were the targets of Katushya rockets? Would Americans be rushing to soothe the tensions through a 'cease-fire?'
It is doubtful that global leaders would still be crying foul over every stray missile that may harm the enemy's civilian base if the terrorist's target were anyone but Israel. Since it is a 'global' war on terror, should it not be conducted wherever necessary, including Israel?
The absolute hypocrisy of the nations concerning Israel is dumbfounding. Volumes could be written on the ridiculous double-standards that have been applied by the West when dealing with Israel. However, those who read their Bibles and know their God, know that Israel has an everlasting covenant with Almighty God. (By the way, nothing can break an everlasting covenant with God. Not even Islamic terrorists with blood in their eyes. God will destroy all who attempt to thwart His good plans. Bank on it.)
God must sit in heaven with great wonder at mankind. It is God alone that holds the answers to mankind's dilemma. We continue to create perpetual problems for ourselves because man was not designed to rule man. He was designed to "be ruled" by God. However, in our haughtiness, we have turned from God and have sought to rule ourselves. So, we are now tasting the fruits of our labors. What do you think? Do you like the results?
Almost daily, I speak with people who sincerely believe that the current world situation is becoming slowly more uncontrollable. However, as this world spirals into utter chaos, Christians are mandated by the Holy Scriptures to maintain their internal peace. (Col. 3:15) Despite the storms of this life and the apparent turmoil all around us, let us never lose sight that we are called to do our part in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ around the world. Don't lose heart, and don't give up. He is almost here!
