These are very interesting days. Once one has acquired a basic grasp of the chronology of Bible prophecy, watching the nations writhe towards their ultimate defeat is simply breathtaking. The Bible very clearly predicts that in the 'latter days' the world would witness an invasion of Israel by an alliance of rogue nations. According to Ezekiel 38-39, this alliance of nations will include Russia, Iran (Persia), Libya, and many others. (You will notice this appears to be Russian/Muslim alliance.)
The recent Russia/Iran nuclear deal signed this weekend has caused many Christians to awaken to the fact that the end may be closer than we think. The rate at which prophetic events have been occurring has been astounding. This weekend, it was reported that Iran may be hiding its nuclear technology in underground tunnels to prevent detection by U.S. drones and satellites. Folks, we are getting very close.
Israel Dwelling in Safety
According to the scriptures, Israel will be dwelling in safety prior to this Russian/Iranian invasion. This is certainly not the case now. Currently, Israel is struggling to form a permanent peace with its ever-present neighbors, the Palestinians. While it hard to imagine a time when Israel will actually be dwelling in safety, the scripture declares that it will occur and at the rate things are going, expect it to be soon!
Within the last several months, Israel and its surrounding neighbors, have publicly displayed an unusual longing and expectancy for a permanent peace. With the recent death of Yasser Arafat, many preconceived notions about the peace process have been demolished. Just last week, Israel expressed delight at the prospect of having over 10 Arab ambassadors within their country. This would have been unheard only a few short years ago.
What's Ahead?
We expect Middle Eastern affairs to remain the top focus of world politics as we approach the day of Christ's return.
With all this said, are we to believe that we are entering the final stretch of God's prophetic plan for mankind?
I believe that we are living in the 'last of the last' days. I believe that sooner than any of us think, Christ is going to come back for his church and we will be with him forever. I believe that this initial return will mark the beginning of a seven-year tribulation that will commence with the signing of a seven-year 'peace' treaty with Israel and many other nations.
Those who have not placed their trust in Christ prior to this initial return of Christ will be 'left behind' on earth to endure the 'wrath of the Lamb' and then ultimately the 'wrath of God.' Jesus described this seven-year period as an unprecedented time of death and destruction (Matt. 24:21,22). You can be spared from this impending judgment by simply believing that Jesus died as a substitute for your sins. The Bible declares that 'whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.' (Romans 10:13)
